AIMSAD has published the Woodworking Machinery (WM) Sector Report compiled according to the foreign trade data published by TURKSTAT. Accordingly, exports increased by 32 percent in the January-February period of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching approximately 24 million dollars.
According to the Woodworking Machinery Sector Report published by AIMSAD every month; In the first two months of 2022, exports increased by 32 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to approximately 24 million dollars.
Looking at the production data compiled in line with the information received from AIMSAD members, it was seen that production increased by approximately 29 percent in the January-February period compared to the previous year. Total production is estimated at 55 million dollars. According to the data in the report; In the first two months of 2022, domestic sales increased by 23 percent compared to the previous year and reached 40 million dollars. In the period covered by the report, imports increased by 13 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 8 million dollars.
Russia took place on the top in exports
Turkey made the most exports to Russia in the January-February period of 2022. In the mentioned period, the amount of exports made by the WM sector to Russia’s was 1.6 million dollars. Iraq followed Russia with 1.4 million dollars and Paraguay with 1.4 million dollars, respectively. Other export countries were Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Egypt, Kosovo, Spain and Tunisia.
The ratio of exports to imports is 286 percent
When the exported product groups were examined, it was seen that the machines in the others category were exported the most with a 29 percent share in the first two months of 2022. This was followed by sawing machines with a share of 26 percent and various bending and joining machines with 13 percent. In the same period, the least exports were made in splitting, machines. In the first two months of 2022, the ratio of exports to imports was 286 percent.
Most imports were made from China
In the first two months of the year, the Turkish woodworking machinery industry made the most imports from China with 4.8 million dollars. Italy followed China with 1.7 million dollars and Germany with 1 million dollars. During this period, Turkey imported the highest number of machines in the category of sawing machines. When the year-end projections are analyzed, an increase of 10 percent in production and 13 percent in exports is expected, while a decrease of 35 percent in imports is expected.
