According to the Woodworking Machinery Sector Report published by AIMSAD every month; In the first nine months of 2021, exports increased by 34.88 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to approximately 90 million dollars. Considering the production data compiled in line with the information received from AIMSAD members, it is estimated that the production in the first nine months of the year increased by approximately 38 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 214 million dollars. In the first 9 months of 2021, imports increased by 90 percent compared to the previous year and reached 58 million dollars, while domestic sales increased by 53 percent to 183 million dollars.
Looking at the exported product groups, it was seen that the machines in the others group were exported the most with a share of 32 percent in the first nine months of the year. This was followed by sawing machines with 28 percent and machines that performed various machine operations without changing tools between these operations, with 12 percent. In the period covered by the report, at least splitting, slitting, or peeling in a form of leaf machines were exported.
The first place in exports is again Iraq
Turkey made the most exports to Iraq in the first nine months of 2021. In the mentioned period, the AİM sector exported a total of 5 million 799 thousand 651 dollars to Iraq. After Iraq, the highest export was made to Russia with 4 million 633 thousand 425 dollars. Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Algeria, Poland, UAE, Italy, Kosovo, and Egypt followed Russia, respectively.
About 10 percent growth is expected in exports by the end of the year
Looking at the import data, in the first nine months of 2021, the highest import was made from China with 17 million 930 thousand 111 dollars. Germany took the second place with 17 million 859 thousand 106 dollars. Germany was followed by Italy, Austria, and Taiwan. Looking at the end of 2021 forecasts for the woodworking machinery industry, it is expected that there will be an increase of 12.24 percent in production, 9.63 percent in exports, 68.69 percent in imports and 27.35 percent in domestic sales.
