In the first four months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year; While there was a decrease of 2.61 percent in production and 7.25 percent in exports, imports increased by 28.92 percent and domestic sales by 7.80 percent.

According to the Woodworking Machinery Sector Report published by IMSAD; In the first four months of 2023, production at the level of 118 million dollars, exports of 47.2 million dollars, imports of 30.2 million dollars and domestic sales of 101 million dollars were realized. Accordingly, compared to the same period of 2022, there was a slight decrease in production and exports, while an increase was observed in domestic sales and imports. In the period subject to the report, the ratio of exports to imports was 156 percent, while the foreign trade balance decreased to 17 million dollars.

In the period covered by the report, the sector mostly exported to Russia. The sector realized a total of 4.5 million dollars of exports to Russia in the first four months. Saudi Arabia took the second place with an export figure of approximately 2 million dollars. Saudi Arabia was followed by Italy with 1.8 million dollars, Spain with 1.7 million dollars, Bulgaria with 1.7 million dollars, the United Kingdom and Romania with 1.6 million dollars, Kazakhstan with 1.5 million dollars, Poland and Algeria with 1.4 million dollars.

THE MACHINES IN THE OTHERS GROUP WERE EXPORTED THE MOST

When the exported product groups were analyzed, it was seen that the machines in the others group were exported the most with 14 million dollars in the first four months of the year. Sawing machines ranked second with 10.8 million dollars, and planer, milling or cutting molding machines took the third place with 6.4 million dollars.

THE COUNTRY FROM WHICH THE MOST MACHINERY IS IMPORTED HAS NOT CHANGED

According to the report; China was the top importing country with 10.3 million dollars. Italy took the second place with 8.3 million dollars. Italy was followed by the following countries, respectively; Germany with 7.4 million dollars, Taiwan with 927 thousand dollars, Austria with 897 thousand dollars, Belgium with 500 thousand dollars, Romania with 451 thousand dollars, South Korea with 342 thousand dollars, Finland with 273 thousand dollars, the United Kingdom with 250 thousand dollars. In the first four months of the year, Turkey imported the most planing, milling or molding machines from abroad with 6.5 million dollars.
